Lomakivi’s horse history began at Easter 2012, when the Shetland pony Kananojan Roosaliina and the Icelandic horse Snoppur Fra Kananoja arrived in the farmyard. In 2016 our first own horse joined them, the handsome Swedish cold-blooded horse Kapten Grej.
Since then more horses have arrived, and foals born summer after summer have also been seen in the farmyard.
You can follow the horses’ daily life from the windows of the holiday houses and from the yard. The day includes paddock time, feeding, moving about and, of course, a lot of munching of hay.
From the yard starts a sand-surfaced training track about a kilometre long, which is maintained all year round. It is also available to guests.

Vilja Kivinen started running a trotting stable in January 2022 at Lomakivi’s Lomatalli. Vilja has long experience in coaching pony and trotting horses and in training them, in teaching foals to drive in harness, and in riding them in.
The stable’s first foal, Lewis Lit, was born in April 2022. Its mother, Hamilton Lady, watched over her foal closely during its first year. After that it moved on to become independent under the care of the Icelandic horse Snoppur Fra Kananoja. The following summer we got to admire the growth of Sipisipi’s Finnhorse foal Sivin Helmi.
In summer 2025 three handsome colt foals were born.
